Decorating with Skulls

Media_httprlvzcacheco_lybsi

Decorating with skulls is ideal on Halloween. It is a little spooky, it is a little creepy and it can be funny. But decorating with skulls is more than just an idea for Halloween, it is also an idea for those who are really interested in "Pirates" and it is also an ideal way to decorate with a "Goth" theme.

A couple of years ago when I wrote Goth Bathroom Accessories the idea came from my husband showing me a picture of a Skull Toilet Brush Cleaner from a "Victorian Trading Post catalog". That page is visited a good bit even when it is not Halloween. It is an interesting decor idea and without a doubt a conversational idea when you have guest.

Haunted North Carolina

North Carolina Hauntings

Asheville North Carolina

North Carolina is among one of my favorite states. With all of the beauty of the surrounding mountains, I have never thought about this state being haunted. Isn't funny how we see things sometimes.

In doing research of Haunted North Carolina, not only did I find several interesting hauntings, but also hauntings that I have heard in other states as Urban Legends. Regards. I want to focus on Asheville, North Carolina because there seems to be a lot going in and around that area.

With all of that being said, sit back and relax and let's see if these tales will give you chills. I know for the past two days, I have had a constant chill thing going on after reading so much haunted things in New York and now North Carolina.

Nature Photography at Zazzle

Photography of things in Nature

I have always loved taking pictures of Natures Beauty. It was not until a couple of years ago I started taking photography a little more seriously and wanted to do more with it.
I honestly have a deep love for all of the beauty I see in nature while hiking or just walking in the woods. I have been known to just sit for hours taking in all of the energy that I feel when I am outside. I have also been told more than once, when I am in nature, my energy just merges into the scenery. I found that to be a great compliment and it was something I really understood.
When I am taking pictures of natural things, I try to focus on the unusual, the unique and/or things people would just walk by or who would just give a fast glance at. Tree stumps is one of my favorite things to photography. So this lens dedicate to some of my photography, in hopes that you will be able to see a little of the magic I see in nature and all of the beauty that it holds.

Haunted Long Island New York

Haunted Long Island, New York

Long Island, New York

Writing this page has been somewhat of an experience for me. I literally spent a full day researching the places I have posted trying to cross reference and such. Unfortunately, this is not my first attempt in trying to write about Haunted Long Island. I have started two different pages about the Amityville Horror, and ended up deleted them both. I deleted them for different reasons, but was thinking if I focused on other haunted areas in this area, perhaps I would have a page that I felt comfortable to put out there.

I am almost positive I have never spoken to a person who has not heard about the Amityville Horror. It is the most famous unexplained account in the country of a family who lived in a house and was ended up being killed by the oldest son. This case is filled with a lot of unexplainable paranormal events that has to do with the supernatural and very negative energy. Another family had purchased the on home a year later and experienced horrible, frightening hauntings and ended up moving out after 28 days.

Dustings from the School Bus

The Angels of Squidooville received a letter in their inbox that spoke of a special quest that was available. Since it is that time again when all of the School Buses are out cleaning off the dust and getting ready for the new school year to begin, the officials at Squidooville headquarters thought it would be fun to go on one last adventure before school officially started.

Ms. Bonnie and Ms. Robin packed a lot of extra juice boxes and sent all of us Angels out to explore new territories in Squidooville. It was a seven day journey and each of us Angels were suppose to visit 10 new homes in a new territory each day for seven days. (I was really afraid we were going to run out of juice boxes because WOW this was a really fun road trip!)

Reiki-A Vision and My Journey

know there are a ton of pages written about Reiki, but I wanted to share my journey with this amazing alternative healing method.

I will share how Reiki entered my life. Why I decided to do Reiki and my journey with it ever since. I will admit that I am not as active as a regular practitioner, but I do know I use it a lot for personal use. I have found that once you are attuned to Reiki, it becomes a natural part of you.

My whole journey deciding to do Reiki came to me in a vision. I write about this further down this page. I can honestly say if it were not for that vision chances are I would not have been attuned. As odd as that sounds, I just have a very hard time charging for any kind of healing I am asked to do. At that time, the prices for your attunements were very high.

When I was a teenager, I would always order me a ½ chocolate and ½ strawberry milkshake every time I ordered one!

Since I am NOT a summer person at all, cooking is the last thing on my mind. So I have had to come up with things that are easy, do not take a lot of time and are light and refreshing. THESE cupcakes fit those categories.

There are just some places that you would never considered to be haunted. Nevada is one is of those places I would never have guessed to be haunted until I was watching Unsolved Mysteries.

They were talking about this home that now resides in Fish Springs, Nevada and is well over a 100 years old. It was moved to Fish Springs from Virginia. I will share additional information about this house a little later.

This is an addition to the other haunted pages I have written for Scariest Places on Earth. I suppose I have decided to write a page about each state so it seems.

So pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of brew and let's get spooky!!

My Spirit Wolf Totem

n the drumming circles I attended, someone mentioned that they were going to have a Shaman Class in a couple of weeks to help people find their "Animal Spirit Totems". I was so excited that I could not contain myself. I signed up and hoped to goodness that the money was going to manifest so I could pay for the class. I honestly believe that when things are meant to be, everything will come together and that is exactly what happened for me and the class.

There was a pretty big group. I knew most everybody but there were a few new people that I had not meant before. It was a one day workshop that would turn out to be one of the most fascinating days of my life.

Finally, I was going to meet my "Dolphin" the animal that I knew with all of my heart that was my Animal Spirit Totem. Little did I know that we are not the ones that choose our guides, our guides choose us.

Farmers Cheese

Farmers Cheese

The Idea

As I have mentioned several times before, my husband and I use to homestead. I write about it here if you would like to take a look: Homesteading Our Journey I wish I would have tried making cheese back then. The one thing my husband and I tried to make was homemade butter. We used heavy cream and had to shake it in a mason jar for a long time. It really did not taste bad, I just did not realize I needed to allow it to drain through cheese-cloth like this cheese.

The Idea about making this cheese came to me the other day. I am the worst trying to figure out what to eat during the hot summer months. I just know I want it simple and easy without having to use the stove a lot. I caught the tail end of a cooking show on Food Network and the cook was making cheese. So I went online to try and find a recipe.

Glass Decorative Witches Balls

Legend of the Witch Ball

Witch Balls are beautiful colored spheres of blown glass. They are created in a way that thin strands of material gather on the inside of the sphere creating somewhat of a web design. They are perfect for any home's décor, especially for the kitchen. I have two, one green one that hangs by my kitchen window and a new aqua blue that I plan on hanging in my living room.

The Witch Ball is full of history dating back to the 18th century. The designs became very refined back in the Victorian Era. They are hung in the window for protection against evil spells and negativity. It is said that the beauty of the sphere attracts these spirits and their energy gets trapped inside the glass sphere, protecting your home and environment from harm.

Homesteading-Living Off Grid

Self-Sufficiency

What is the definition for Homesteading?

Broadly defined homesteading is a lifestyle, a simple life and/or a life of being self-sufficient. It takes you back to the days of the Wild West and the old pioneers that lived a very hard life and lived with very little.

Homesteads today are living off grid, some consider it The Path to Freedom being able to live without electricity bills, phone bills, televisions and all of the modern day niches. It is getting up and taking care of your small farm and growing a good portion of what you eat. It is raising your foods without chemicals and pesticides, feeding your animals hormones and food that may not always be chemical free. Some may call it a "Simple" life, but working that hard to survive is nothing simple. What is rewarding is the connection from becoming a family again, and not having to depend solely on outside sources for major finances. You learn to live with little and become very grateful for EVERYTHING you have!!

Ghost vs Spirits

Is there a difference between Ghost and Spirits?

As I write this lens, I too will be learning the difference between ghost and spirits. I know in general conversations when people speak about this subject, they will refer to ghost/spirit in the same context. Is there a difference? Lets start here...

Wikipedia A ghost is said to be the apparition of a deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered in places she or he frequented, the place of his or her death, or in association with the person's former belongings. The word "ghost" may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit or demon.

1960's Music

Woodstock-Summer of Love

Back in the 1960's our record collection was very much like today's musical CD's. Music for me is something that has always touched the core of my being. I actually use to play music all of the time especially in the sixties. My stepfather was a music junkie so needless to say we always had a good music setup. Since no one was allowed to touch his stereo equipment, most of the time I would have a very inexpensive recorder player and would play my 45's all the time.

If you were to ask what people remember most about the 1960's, it would be the hippies, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Woodstock. Woodstock was 3 days of Peace and Music held on a dairy farm in Bethel, New York on 600 acres. During that weekend, 32 acts performed in front of 500,000 people. I found this information at Wiki.

Gothic Toilet Brush Holder

This picture started my whole thinking process for this lens. My husband was looking through a catalog and when I seen this picture of the Skull Toilet Brush, I immediately thought WOW, that would make an interesting SQUIDOO LENS! My husband just looked at me and shook his head!

I happen to love Gothic Theme rooms. When I was single, I had a few my rooms decorated in a Gothic Theme and loved it! Everybody has a bathroom, right? Why not have it decorated with a Gothic Theme as well, especially during Halloween?

During my search for items to show in this lens, I also found some fantastic sites that sell Gothic Theme bathroom accessories. Of course you could go with the solid black, but adding a touch of electric blue, burgundy or blood red just adds a little more of a mystical feel to the interior décor.

Kitchen Witch

Exactly, what is a Kitchen Witch?

A Kitchen Witch: is a woman who has placed magick in every aspect of her home, her hearth. She is the Keeper of the Home who ensures it is safe, cleaned of negative energies and it is nurtured on all levels. I choose to post this description because it best describes me and my experiences. In a sense I am more like a Hedge-witch.

A Kitchen Witch puts so much energy in her home that most of the time the kitchen becomes the Heart of the Home. I have had people gather in my home and most of the time we gather in the kitchen. We will share a wonderful herbal tea and a cake filled with magickal energy, or a beautiful spring salad with all of the trimmings. We will sit and talk and share so much that time actually fly's away.

Kindred the Embrace-1996 Vampire Series

Kindred the Embraced was written by Aaron Spelling and it was a prime time drama that revolved around the lives of the clan based vampire society in San Francisco. The series although short lived was inspired by the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. Kindred the Embrace only aired seven episodes and it was said that the show just could not find its mainstream audience. That is really hard for me to believe because it actually had a very good story line. It aired April-1996 to May-1996. One of the Lead Actors Mark Frankel who played "Julian Luna" who was the Prince of San Francisco died in September of the same year.

Chocolate Dippers

Okay, that is taking it a little overboard, but you get what I mean. I LOVE chocolate!! This is lens 2 of 30 for the challenge I am doing. I know the niche of dipping things into chocolate has been covered and I will post some of those links, but I had to write this page. Do you want to know why?

When I was a teenager I had a few different jobs at once (three to be exact) and on the occasion when I could get a day off I would take a little bit of one of my paychecks and go downtown; at that time I was living in Colorado Springs. Even being that young I knew how important it was to treat yourself once in a while, this is how I treated myself: I would go to the Goodwill store and see if they had any ripped jeans that fit me, I would buy them and patch them up. (Yes, my hippie days) Than I would get me some chocolate covered popcorn from a vendor wagon. This was a HUGE treat for me. Nowadays, you see chocolate popcorn everywhere, but not back then.

Since I am known for liking different food combinations, I thought I would share of my favorite things dipped in chocolate.

Purple Flower Photography

What does the color Purple represent?

Purple has always been one of my favorite colors. Purple represents so many spiritual things and is considered to be the color of the Goddess. It is also the color that represents our crown chakra and it is the Reiki Master Symbol color.

Purple is a mixture of red and blue. With red being the warmest color and blue being the coolest color it is believed to be the union of body and soul creating a balance between our physical and our spiritual energies. With Red being a color of focus, dynamic and active energy and blue being the color of calming and cooling energy, it is associated with imagination, inspiration and spirituality.

Purple and violet represent the imagination and dreams, while spiritually calming the emotions. These colors enhance psychic ability and spiritual enlightenment, and because of the red being one of the colors in the mixture for purple, it helps keep us grounded.

Psychic Children are very Gifted

Psychic Children

I am creating this lens for a few different reasons. I just finished watching a show on T.V. about Psychic Children, and the one thing that kept going through my mind was, I wish someone would have taken the time to help me learn about my gifts as a child, instead of making me feel like a freak.

Plus, I believe this is a very important subject because children are so attuned to the Spiritual World and Psychic Abilities when they are young. The problem is; they do not know what to do with these abilities and are unsure how to use them.

Last, I believe children need to safe enough in the family to have open communication. Many Gifts are lost in children because they become afraid or unsure of what they are experiencing. They begin to wonder if what they seen were real or pretend is this good or bad, doubt is a horrible emotion to feel and unfortunately it begins at a very early age.

This movie is classified as "hyper-real" since the facial capturing system took 18 months alone to perfect.

What is an Avatar? An Avatar is an additional body produced to host a spirit/likeness/personality/soul without its own original life force. According to the examiner.com in Atlanta, the movie is exciting and yet has disappointed some people because of the story line. Exactly, Who Are Star People

Often times when we are asked questions, we think carefully how to answer it. In my case when I am asked a question and do not know the answer right off the top of my head, I research until I find the answer.

While I was doing my lens Psychic Children, I was asked questions that lead too me to writing Star Children, which lead me to this lens.

I ordered Brad & Francie Steiger book called The Star People and through that, I have learned many things and wanted to share it with some of my loyal readers of my lenses. Buckle up, because I know for a fact, many of you are going to be floored!

But the question remains: What is a Star Child and/or Star People?

According to a fantastic site I found: Star children are children who have been sent here from all areas of the universe to help the earth and the people on it. They possess psychic, spiritual, and other extra sensory abilities. To Read full article please go to: Star Children

Crystal Children

Once back in the mid nineties when I was doing a reset job at a department store, I looked over and seen this beautiful child-she was so young I would hate to guess her age. She had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen on a child. My supervisor was working this particular job with me and I told my supervisor that the child was an Old Soul. But I knew there was more to her than just being an old soul, she was unique and special. The funny thing about this is after all of these years I can still see her face in my mind.

After reading Loreen Virtue characteristics of a Crystal Child I now know that the child I seen and connected to, was a Crystal Child. She had to be, when we locked eyes, it was as if she and I were talking on a much higher level. When her and her mother were leaving the area, the little girl smiled at me as if to say, we will meet again. I know that sounds odd but its the truth.

Feng Shui for the Kitchen

Clipped from www.squidoo.com

Feng Shui for the Kitchen

Using Feng Shui in the Kitchen

As I have mentioned on several of my lenses, my kitchen is the "Heart of my Home". I have learned that the kitchen is the heart of many homes, which I only find to be amazing. I really wanted to write this lens to share more ideas from Skye Alexander's book which I will highlight in this lens again, but I wanted to share a few of my own ideas as well.

Since I have been keeping house (which has been many years) the one place in my home that always seems too remain balanced with good energy is the flow of the energy in my kitchen. I love kitchen gadgets and I am a pack rat (did I just say that?)! But somehow, some way I always keep my kitchen flowing with a warm gentle energy.

One of many things I do is hang a lot of wind chimes throughout my home, especially in the kitchen. And I love dragonflies so I have them fluttering throughout my kitchen as well. But before I get into too much here let me just say that doing Feng Shui is easy, does not have to be expensive and helps with the health, prosperity, and wealth in your home especially the kitchen. To begin, start with one thing at a time.

Emotional Power Within

Emotional Power Within

We are Goddesses

Finding Our Place of Power-What in the world does this mean? First I am not sure if "Power" can be described in the sense I am speaking about. The experiences you go through can explain "Power" because it is the things you go through that makes you create the inner power you have.

When you find your place of power it is the same as finding the inner God/Goddess part of yourself. It is reaching that part of you and being able to handle situations and experiences that you have gone through and coming out of those experiences with an understanding of what the experience meant. To me: the journey of you finding your place of power lies within the strength you used during your experiences and the understanding of the lessons you were taught.

We gain power by going through unexpected struggles, loss, betrayal, disappointments; things that make our reality spin out of control. The process we go through handling these situations is how we reach our place of power because we learn how to recapture our inner balance.

Feng Shui for the Bedroom

Feng Shui for the Bedroom

Feng Shui brings Harmony

Feng Shui-(Pronounced fung-shway) was rooted in the Chinese spiritual tradition Taoism and the teachings of Confucius, and literally means "wind and water". This has been practiced for more than 2,000 years and the goal is to direct chi through your environment so its movement resembles a gently flowing stream.

I recently purchased a wonderful book which I will highlight below. I have always been interested in Feng Shui and have incorporated a good many of the techniques throughout my house. Although, I feel I have so much more to learn, I did want to share a few things I learnt in this book.

I was not sure if I wanted to do this lens on the kitchen (which is my favorite part of the home, and here is actually the heart of our home) or the bedroom. I choose the bedroom because surprisingly enough, the way things are arranged has a lot to do with the flow and harmony of your relationship.

Indigo and Star Children

I just shared this page the other day but wanted to share it again because I just added the characteristics of a Crystal Child and a poll. If you take a look and can relate please take the poll. I also decided to write a separate page about Crystal Children highlighting Loreen's book. I should have it done within the next couple of days. http://amplify.com/u/a19ao6

Dragonflies Love Fairy Gardens

Clipped from www.squidoo.com

Fairies can be Dragonfly's too!

Dragonflys love Fairy Gardens

One of the most magical things for me is to watch a dragonfly. I will often sit quietly and just stare at it. When they are around, I am filled with the same feeling as I get when I am watching a butterfly. The way they move and glide through the air reminds me of how a Fairy would flutter around a flower garden.

I love to challenge myself with new art projects. Imagination is such a wonderful tool we are given! As I was making one of my little Inspirational Fairies, I wondered what if I could make one that has a body like a dragonfly. After many attempts, I did it! I have only made two of them, one was adopted and the other lives in Colorado waiting to be adopted. Her name is Happy, because whenever I looked at her little face, it just made me feel like a child (Her picture is below).

This lens has done a complete turn around from the time I first created it. And as time goes on, I am sure it is will change again. So what are your thoughts, do you believe Fairies can be Dragonflies too?

Celtic Tree Moon Calendar

Celtic Tree Calendar

Celtic Tree Moon Calendar

n Celtic lore, trees were not merely sacred static objects, but warehouses of memories-repositories of knowledge. Trees were here to maintain earthly wisdom with their longevity. As with our legends that speak of each us being born with a certain Animal Medicine Animal Spirit Totems it is also said that our birthdays are represented by a certain Tree Medicine this is referred to as a Tree Moon.

The Celtic Tree Calendar is a calendar with thirteen lunar divisions. If most people used a fixed date for each month instead of following the waxing and waning lunar cycle, that would make the calendar fall out of sync with the Gregorian year because some calendar years have 12 full moons and others have 13.

Homemade Chocolate Candy

Is there anything better than chocolate?

This is lens one for the SquidQuest Challenge The Quest is to make 30 new lens with a new niche plus make a lensography to carry all of these pages. Well, I decided I would do my niche on Candy. WHY? Because I believe I am one of the biggest candy-addicts and when it comes to chocolate I am a major Choco-holic!! (Plus I am trying to make it to the 250 club)

My plan is to write 30 different type of candy pages hopefully with recipes. I hope to put somewhat of a healthy kick in the recipes but I cannot promise that will happen.

Herbal Tea Recipes

Herbal Tea Recipes

Herb Tea as an Alternative Healing Method

Herbs have been used by Medicine People for centuries in different towns and villages. Many of the townspeople would travel miles to visit the medicine person known in their community for healing.

Apothecary and mid-wifery used herbs all of the time. Women would gather herbs during certain times of the day to and make potions (teas) for magickal uses and healing purposes. There is so much information available for Folk-Lore Myths and remedies that several people could write a squidoo lens and never touch the surface of Herbal Healing.

I learn something new daily about using herbs. For me herbs are very magickal in every sense of the word. But they are so much more than magickal...they are a sacred gift, given to us from the Divine to help heal us. I am a proud tree hugger, if I could hug all of the herbs in the world, I would do that too! I believe in herbs, I trust them, I love them! When I am not familiar with some, I do a lot of research...that is why I mentioned in my disclaimer to ALWAYS research the herbs you are not familiar with.
