Farmers Cheese

Farmers Cheese

Farmers Cheese

The Idea

As I have mentioned several times before, my husband and I use to homestead. I write about it here if you would like to take a look: Homesteading Our Journey I wish I would have tried making cheese back then. The one thing my husband and I tried to make was homemade butter. We used heavy cream and had to shake it in a mason jar for a long time. It really did not taste bad, I just did not realize I needed to allow it to drain through cheese-cloth like this cheese.

The Idea about making this cheese came to me the other day. I am the worst trying to figure out what to eat during the hot summer months. I just know I want it simple and easy without having to use the stove a lot. I caught the tail end of a cooking show on Food Network and the cook was making cheese. So I went online to try and find a recipe.

Kitchen Witch

Clipped from www.squidoo.com

Kitchen Witch

Exactly, what is a Kitchen Witch?

A Kitchen Witch: is a woman who has placed magick in every aspect of her home, her hearth. She is the Keeper of the Home who ensures it is safe, cleaned of negative energies and it is nurtured on all levels. I choose to post this description because it best describes me and my experiences. In a sense I am more like a Hedge-witch.

A Kitchen Witch puts so much energy in her home that most of the time the kitchen becomes the Heart of the Home. I have had people gather in my home and most of the time we gather in the kitchen. We will share a wonderful herbal tea and a cake filled with magickal energy, or a beautiful spring salad with all of the trimmings. We will sit and talk and share so much that time actually fly's away.

Homemade Chocolate Candy

Homemade Chocolate Candy

Is there anything better than chocolate?

This is lens one for the SquidQuest Challenge The Quest is to make 30 new lens with a new niche plus make a lensography to carry all of these pages. Well, I decided I would do my niche on Candy. WHY? Because I believe I am one of the biggest candy-addicts and when it comes to chocolate I am a major Choco-holic!! (Plus I am trying to make it to the 250 club)

My plan is to write 30 different type of candy pages hopefully with recipes. I hope to put somewhat of a healthy kick in the recipes but I cannot promise that will happen.

Nutritional Cooking

Health and Nutrition

Nutritional Cooking

This is something that I have been very aware of since I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure. It seems that the biggest majority of people who are diagnosed with HPB also are told that if they lose weight it will increase the chances of lower their Blood Pressure.

Losing weight is harder than just a saying it, trying to do it and actually doing it. I do not believe in diets. I am sure there are diets that are affective, and I am sure some people have great results from them. If you do a Google Search on diets there were 22,000,000 results. So out of the 22,000,000 you know people have had to have results! I have often heard that losing weight is more than just losing it, the objective is keeping the weight off. I am a firm believer instead of dieting, people that focus more on changing your eating habit have better over results.

Five Simple Chicken Recipes

Clipped from www.squidoo.com

Chicken Recipes

Five simple chicken recipes

hate cooking more than anything during the summer time. The weather is hot and when you cook; the stove causes additional heat. Yuck! So what I have done is created a way to take care of a few problems with one handy trick. Bulk cooking my chicken!!

From my other lens, I am sure by now the message of me being pretty frugal is nothing new. I watch for sales very closely at our local grocery store. Here in the south we have a store called Ingles, and by me watching their sales, I pretty much have a grasp of the schedule they use for certain sale items such as chicken. I am SO particular about my chicken; I only eat boneless, skinless chicken breast that has not been fed hormones. Tyson is the brand I usually get and when it is on sale, I can spend ten dollars and get five meals from that batch of chicken.

So, what I am going to do is list five recipes we eat regularly and how I make cooking dinner fast and easy without adding additional heat to my home and most important the meals are pretty nutritional. The only sodium you will find in my meals is the hidden sodium in foods, but even that is monitored pretty closely.

Homemade Italian Pizza

Clipped from www.squidoo.com

My Italian Pizza

Homemade Italian Pizza, Calzones and More!

Ahh, Italian Pizza homemade food from my own heart. This is among my favorite foods and has been all of my life. Each week I make a pizza and everytime it takes me back to my grandmother's kitchen. This is not joke, she would have pizzas all over the counters and the table. She had big pizzas, little pizzas, square pizzas and round. Grandmother would be in the kitchen all day cooking pizzas for the whole darn family!

Of course I do not make my sauce homemade as grandmother did. Goodness knows she would slap my hands if she were still alive, but I believe I do pretty good and she would be proud of the way I cook. One of the best things about making a homemade pizza is the fact you can ADD anything to it that you want too.

Poetry

Often when we write, we pull words from deep within our core. We try to find the words that fit that particular emotion, mind thought or situation. There are many times when we share our poetry or poems and they will not be understood. It wasn't until I joined Squidoo that I started to share my art and my writing including my poems the way I do today, isn't life mysterious and beautiful. http://amplify.com/u/a16p2y

Jar of Love

This page could be used for just about any holiday. It is a wonderful gift that is literally made from the heart. Baking a yummy treat and placing it in a jar to give as a special little gift, is not only thoughtful and caring, but it is also a very inexpensive way to give gifts. http://amplify.com/u/a16p1o

Healthy Cooking

Believe you can do it and you can. My husband always tells me that once I set my mind to something, I can achieve it. I often think about my "Life Patterns" and in an odd way I agree with him. But for me it a two-fold thing now; I know what I must do, but my "Senior" mind is telling me if I want something then I have earned the years to have it. Of course I am talking about one of my addictions and that is "Sweets".

It has been a year now since I was told that I have High Blood Pressure and I needed to lose some weight. I look at this situation, look at the amount of food I eat, and not making any excuses, I really do not eat a lot. BUT what I do is eat the wrong foods and not exercise enough??

One Recipe Several Breads

Since I have to watch my sodium intake, most of my recipes do not contain salt, and I also use No Sodium Baking Powder and Baking Soda that I purchase online at Healthy Heart. With that being said, any of the recipes I have posted can have salt added to the recipe if you would like. http://amplify.com/u/a16h1s

Cooking for Geeks Cookbook

Cooking for Geeks Cookbook-3

Chapter Five Review and Pumpkin Cake

Cooking for Geeks by: Jeff Potter

This is a fantastic cookbook that is really considered more than just a cookbook but also a learning tool. I really enjoyed how Mr. Potter went into an explanation about leaveners not only with a scientific approach but also in plain English.

I cannot speak for everybody but one of the most important things to me when reading books is how the book is written. I enjoy reading books that seem like the Author is sitting there telling you a story. Through their written words it more like having a conversation with the readers. This is one reason I really enjoyed this book.

Cooking for Geeks is actually a book that could be used as a good learning tool for older children who are just beginning to learn to cook. He writes about different experiments you can do that will show you what he is explaining. How much fun could this be if you got your children involved-what child does not like to play scientist in the kitchen? There is a simple experiment to separate out and see the gluten made by the proteins in flour-doesn't that

sound like fun to watch?

Cookie Bar Delight

Cookie Bar Delight

Chef Feegle's Cookie Bar Delight's

Coming up with a recipe for Chef Feegle's Quest was really interesting for me. For the past three days I have been wondering what in the world to make. This morning when I got up I was watching a Christmas movie on the television and was thinking about these cookies my grandmother use to make with this fruit jelly stuff in the middle. Than my thoughts went to a Jewish cookie I made one year. So I was thinking about the ingredients I already had and came up with this recipe for Chef Feegle.

I have to warn you, they may not look like Christmas but the flavors just pop in your mouth, saying oh, this is without a doubt a Christmas Cookie!! I wish you were here to help me test things out, yum!

As with all of my recipes, I do not add salt and I use no-sodium baking powder and baking soda and no salt butter. I use as many organic ingredients as I have on hand that I purchased on sale. So adjust the recipe to use what is in your pantry, because I know your's will be just as good!!
