Symbolic Bridge

This is a very special Zazzle Design.  A friend of mine who has always been supportive and encouraging of my art and photography place a comment on another photo I did of a bridge scene from the Botanical Gardens.  Her comment was filled with so much wisdom and feelings that I asked her if it was okay if I used the words on one of my designs.  Being who this beautiful person is, she said yes and this picture is the design I created.

I had to search through my photography to find just the right photo and when I seen this one, I knew it was it.  I changed her words slightly but kept the true meaning of her comment.  If you stop and think about it, I mean really think about it, a bridge is very symbolic of the journeys that we have in life.  Every time we cross a bridge to get to the other side,  we are developing our own history. 

When you stop and think about every experience we go through good and bad, each experience teaches us something whether we get the meaning or not.  Those experiences help us to grow and reach a higher level in our own life.  Often there will be times when we experience horrible sad things and we will think that there is no lesson to learn from this event, but instead we wonder if we are being punished in some odd way.  What did I do to have to go through this?  Why is this happening to me? Am I that bad of a person to have to go through this?

The Divine that I believe in, does not send hurtful experiences to teach us things, often things happen and it is up to us to understand a deep meaning.  These words really hit home for me within the last couple of months, the things I have experienced literally left me in a whirlwind and yet within the next two weeks I have to experience more.  I know for sure that I am not being punished, but I am going through these experiences to learn something very important.  What little bit I have figured out is this:  Life is precious and it is very short.  We need to take every moment we can and see all of the beauty in life and be grateful for every thing that comes into our life.  Because in a snap of a finger, our whole reality can be flipped and leave us in a whirlwind of confusion.

I took this photo at the Wildlife Center in Athens, Georgia.  This is one of a set of Bald Eagles that were together.  I am guessing since they shared a space that they were mates.

Deer Giving Raspberries

I am sorry but I think this image is priceless.  I took it at a Wildlife Center in Athens, Georgia.  It just so happened I was at the right place at the right time.

Me and My Stick

I took this photo of a Black Bear who was waiting for his breakfast.  So to keep himself amused, he decided to play with this stick he is holding.  It was just a humor moment for me because my thoughts went to long ago when jailers use to run their cup across the bars to get someone's attention. Can you imagine the bear running his stick along the fence to get the park attendants to feed him?

One Eye

This beautiful owl is only the second photo I have ever taken of an owl. The owl was a resident at the Hawk's home.  Owl and Hawk are able to share the same territory because both birds are bird of prey and both territorial.  However since the owl is nocturnal it is able to share the same territory with the Hawk because Hawk claims the area during the day.

I have always loved taking pictures of Natures Beauty. It was not until a couple of years ago I started taking photography a little more seriously and wanted to do more with it. I honestly have a deep love for all of the beauty I see in nature while hiking or just walking in the woods. I have been known to just sit for hours taking in all of the energy that I feel when I am outside. I have also been told more than once, when I am in nature, my energy just merges into the scenery. I found that to be a great compliment and it was something I really understood. When I am taking pictures of natural things, I try to focus on the unusual, the unique and/or things people would just walk by or who would just give a fast glance at. Tree stumps is one of my favorite things to photography. t is beyond me why I have waited as long as I have to start a Halloween Themed Zazzle Gallery considering Halloween is my most favorite holiday!! Purple Flower Photography

What does the color Purple represent?

Purple has always been one of my favorite colors. Purple represents so many spiritual things and is considered to be the color of the Goddess. It is also the color that represents our crown chakra and it is the Reiki Master Symbol color. Purple is a mixture of red and blue. With red being the warmest color and blue being the coolest color it is believed to be the union of body and soul creating a balance between our physical and our spiritual energies. With Red being a color of focus, dynamic and active energy and blue being the color of calming and cooling energy, it is associated with imagination, inspiration and spirituality. Purple and violet represent the imagination and dreams, while spiritually calming the emotions. These colors enhance psychic ability and spiritual enlightenment, and because of the red being one of the colors in the mixture for purple, it helps keep us grounded. ust for fun, you should do a Google Search to see if Black and White is considered colors. A lot of folks say they are not, and a lot of folks say they are. They say black is the positive of all colors and white is the absence of all color. Black is the absence of light, color does not exist without light, white is a balance of color in light. So basically they are shades or tones. A bit confusing I know, but to me personally, I consider them colors. But really this page is not about that, I wanted to write about the purity of white. White has never been a color I have been drawn too. Before doing my photography, when I looked at white flowers all I could see was the dingy brown color they turn. Since I am somewhat tom-boyish for me to wear white clothes is a nightmare. That was proven again over the weekend in North Carolina; I had a hair brain idea to wear white shorts which did not remain white for very long while doing some photography at the botanical gardens. History of the Dogwood

For years now the one flower that I love to photograph is the Dogwood Blossom. For me it is one of the most amazing flowers with such a unique texture, coloration and beauty. My photography of the Dogwood Blossom has changed a lot throughout the years. But again, so has my camera. The one thing that remains is the beauty I seen in them. The Dogwood Tree has a very long history; they say at the time of the Jesus' Crucifixion, the dogwood tree was comparable to the size of the mighty oak tree. Because of its firmness and strength it was used as the Cross that Jesus was crucified on. Although there are no direct accounts of this, it is known that dogwood trees did grow in the areas surrounding Jerusalem during this time period. Read more at www.squidoo.com

Since I have decided to divide my art lenses into separate catagories, I decided to devote one full lens to just flowers. To me flowers are some of natures born miracles. Have you ever really looked at a flower upclose? Have you ever paid attention to its soft velvet texture, its wide range of colors and the magic of how the middle of a looks? I am only asking these questions because these are somethings I have always been enchanted by. A flowers scent can be beautiful, it can smell sweet, my favorite is the scent of the moonflower that is very enchanting to me. Inspirational Posters at Zazzle

Since I opened a new Zazzle Gallery called WhiteOak's Photography I wanted to do something very different, and began creating Inspirational Posters. I am taking certain photo's and only making a few products from them; one being Posters. I will be highlighting each poster and give a little explanation why I wrote the quote I did with that particular picture. This will be a work in progress but I think in the long run it will turn out to be okay. This image was taken earlier this past summer. I honestly feel this dragonfly landed just for me so I could take its picture. My husband got some really good shots also, and we both agree, it was like this dragonfly took the time just to pose for us. Sounds Silly doesn't it?
