Within the World of a Hibiscus

Last night and early this morning we had a lot of rain in Georgia. One of my favorite things in the world is smelling the air after a rain and also taking photos.  This morning by accident, I stumbled outside to take my yorkie out to do his business and I glanced over at my flowers and ran in the house to get my camera.  

In the process of taking these photos, I noticed I was going for somekind of theme not really planning to do so.  Have you ever really looked into a flower?  Anyway, there were many different angle shots I took so I did a google search to see if any of the parts had names, and guess they do!

The Stigma is considered the female part of the flower that receives the pollen.  Inside the long tubular organ of the flower that the stigma sits on is called the pistil and that is where the other female parts are like the ovaries.  Now whereas other flowers will have several ovaries, the hibiscus only has one.  

[[posterous-content:pid___3]][[posterous-content:pid___4]]The Anthers and Filaments are considered the Male part of the hibiscus and are resonsible for producing pollen and is called the stamens.  The hibiscus flowers have hundreds.  The long thin tubes are called filaments and the two tube shaped objects are called anthers. The Anthers sit ontop of the filament and they are what releases the pollen.  

**Please Note**  I took the above pictures this morning and it is now noon here in Georgia and the little brown anthers are now just yellow bits of pollen!!

Page of Art

Over the weekend I was doing some clean up at Squidoo.  When you have over 200 pages that you need to keep up with and refresh and so on, it becomes a task.  But while I was doing this it dawned on me that I had written over 20 pages of art related pages so I decided to combine them all into one page.    

Page of Art is considered a Lensography at Squidoo.  They are one of my favorite kinds of pages to create because I like the organization of them.  I always leave my guestbooks open so all of my visitors can leave a comment if they want too.  If you get a chance stop by and take a look.

I have 100% fell in love with doing Black and White Photography. There is something about the uniqueness it adds to the photo, but its something more that I cannot really explain.  There are a few of my personal favorites, I hope you like them.  If you would like, comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Dogwood Blossoms are among my favorite flower to photo.  I love the richness of the blossoms and especially in a Black and White photo.

Covered Bridges fascinate me.  This bridge is located in Watkinsville, Georgia and is one of four that I have photographed so far.  I have set a goal to take as many photos as possible of different covered bridges in different locations.

Black and White Dandelion Puff

Often when I am out shooting photos, I see small things that captures my attention.  This happens to be the result of that.  These little dandelion puff balls are a childhood favorite.  Remember:  All you have to do is make a wish!!

Old Studebaker Truck

WHO does not love old classic automobiles?  This truck would be a dream come true for my husband and I.  I can see us driving it!!

What else can you say about a rose?  They are not my favorite flower, but they are becoming one I love photograph!

What better way to say "I Love You" than by a giving your loved one a Rose? Well, I personally am not a Rose person, but I sure do love photographing them. They are just like every flower I have photographed so far, they each have their own unique personality.

This Rose is among some of my favorite photos I have taken. It reminds me of a Vintage Rose or a rose from long ago. It has an Antique feel to it me personally. It is delicate, yet strong.

This Rose just seems magical to me. It is like it glows or something. I remember the day I took this picture and was outside experimenting with different backgrounds and trying to adjust the lighting on my camera. When I uploaded and seen this picture, I really liked it because of its uniqueness.

The Beauty of Springtime

This is a photo that I took at the Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia. I used a Nikon D3100 Camera with 55-80 lens. I am not that familiar with Camellia flowers, I just know once I seen them I fell in love with it.  It is a delicate looking flower that holds so much beauty that to this point, it is one of my favorite photos that I have taken.

What screams louder than beautiful Daffodils after a soothing rain, that Springtime is here? In my opinion most flowering bulbs screams Springtime in a soft beautiful way that gets you all geared up for the planting season ahead.

Another Daffodil. Did you know that I have never seen just one daffodil growing by itself? They are always surrounded by other ones. Some may bloom sooner than others but they will never be alone.
