The Elements Fire and Air

The Elements Fire and Air

When you are walking through the woods,
where the mighty one's once stood,
Listen to the crackling fire's sound,
that circles you all around.

Listen to all of the sounds in Nature,
and how her rhythm becomes even greater.
Listen to the Air,
and the roaring power of fires flare.

As the air dances across the water,
leaving ripples that move like a performer,
the air flows soft and slow~
and intertwines with fires glow.

As air flows through the branches of a tree,
and entwines with the leaves,
they have completed their dance to air's sound,
now it is time to meld into the ground.

Every element has a special chore,
as does the ocean waves as they touch the shore,
as you sit with a chill from the air
just imagine fires flares.

As the air flows all around,
like the rhythm of the drums sound.
Keep your heart warm by the fires heat,
and enjoy this moment before it fleets.

I have always said that poetry is a way for a writer to express things that often cannot be spoken from the mouth.  Yet, it can be expressed through metaphors. Since everyone speaks on different levels most of  the time, metaphors are often spoken as the universal language. Of course not everyone with agree with this and that is perfectly okay.

Many people get sad and close down during the colder months.  When they see the bare trees, and all of the leaves on the ground, they see a huge chore that needs to be done.  Raking leaves is hard work no doubt.  I love to rake for several reasons, but mainly because I know the leaves I rake up will soon become wonderful material for your garden.  I love to watch how the leaves meld into the soil and how it makes soil richer. I do not see  autumn as doom and gloom, but instead I see autumn and winter as a time to rest and rejuvenate for preparation for a new beginning.

Metaphors to me, is very much like the music from Enigma.  They may be singing something but when the words travel through your ears to your spirit~they become something totally different.  Listen and you tell me what you think.

Cleansing Your Energy

Purity of a rose for cleansing your energy.

Cleansing Your Energy

One thing that many people do not think about is cleansing their energy.  Cleansing your energy is as important as smudging your home when you feel negativity lingering around.

When you are out in public, whether it is at your job, in a local store, visiting friends and/or neighbors; it is very easy to also pick up energy that does not feel good.  It can make you feel as if you have something clinging to you, weighing you down and this does not do your spirit any good.  I have found especially being empathic or a sensitive empath, chances of your energy collecting negativity is a lot greater than the average person.

Signs that are given to  you when your energy is screaming to be cleansed are given in all different ways.  Often you will feel drained and uneasy almost like all of your energy has been taken from you. (Very similar to a Psychic Vampire attack but not as strong).  You will feel as if you lost all interest in everything and you are not motivated to do anything.  Often you will get bad headaches and feel like sleeping a lot.

I wrote an article "Spiritual Protection" which talks about ways to shield yourself from psychic attacks and how to build shields, but cleansing your energy is different.  It is things collecting and/or attaching to your energy-your aura for no apparent reason.  It would be similar to a filter in a clothes dryer and it catching the lint.  Negativity is definitely one of the main things that attaches to your aura.

So how do I take care of cleansing my aura?

For many years I made herbal body care products and I use to make an exclusive line of products just for cleansing your energy.  There are two ways of doing this-either in the shower or soaking in the tub.

The Shower:

Take some sea salt and place it in your wash cloth.  Add some lavender, rosemary and sandalwood essential oils.  Since I work in three's, I would add three drops of each oil.  As you slowly begin to wash yourself, see the negative energies coming off of your skin and going into the bath tub.  As it goes down the drain, see it vanishing leaving your energy fresh and clean.

The Bath Tub:

When I do this in a soak:  I will use both the herbs and the oil.  You can use a muslin bag and add some rosemary, lavender and sandalwood chips.  Place the bag and about three tablespoons of sea salt in your tub, along with three drops of the same oils.  Light a while candle and lay back in the tub seeing everything negative vanishing off of you and going into the tub.  After you have soaked for as long as you want, let the water out of the tub and watch all of the negative energy vanish down the drain.

You can use which ever oils you would like for purification and cleansing your energy.  Here are just a few suggestions that you may like better than the one I gave.  I am also sure you can find many more with just a little research.

Oils:  Anise, Calamus, Chamomile, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, fennel, frankincense, lavender, lemon, lemon verbena, peppermint, pine, rosemary, sandalwood, thyme and vervain.

Herbs (for soaking in tub) Anise, calamus, chamomile, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon verbena, mimosa, peppermint, rosemary, thyme and vervain.

The objective is to wash off all of the negative energies and see them vanish down the drain.

Between the Worlds

Nature Poetry

Beyond the views of our mind, there is a place between the worlds, in another dimension.  It is a place where life is completely different, it is a place that is truly pure, fresh and free.  It is there for everyone to experience, unfortunately very few do.  This place between the worlds is a place where there are no restrictions or demands.  The freedom is not like we are use to in this world, it is a pure freedom that does nothing but lifts your higher self to a point where everything in life has been lifted and taken away from you.  Every fractions of your spiritual being is cleansed and filled with a light that is warm, clean and bright.  You meld with every energy that life has to offer.  You are connected but not caged and bound, you are part of something much bigger, you are connected directly to the "Source".

Between the Worlds
(c) 2012 Eva WhiteOak Thomas

The dimension between the worlds,
is encased like a fine pearl.
It is so different and alive,
yet it only takes a second to arrive.

The dimension between the worlds,
is wonderfully warm and never cold.
As you breathe in the freshness of the air,
your senses are wide open, like an animal's lair.

The dimension between the worlds,
is a place your spirit can swirl.
You can see forever, but without sight,
and feel how the stars burn so bright.

The dimension between the worlds,
have paths that twist and twirl.
Listen closely you can hear beyond words,
in the dimension between the worlds.

The dimension between the worlds,
has a legend that has always been told,
everything you feel is without touch,
but yet you realize what it is very much.

The dimension between the worlds,
is a comforting place, yet so old.
If there were no eyes to see,
your senses is what you have to believe.

The dimension between the worlds,
where nature contrasted and always bold,
you are able to see the true life,
that emerges straight from the source.

Rock and Roll Music

Music from the Sixties

Since I was a very small child I was raised with music.  The thing about music is it touches your soul, it reacts with your spirit on a very deep level.  Music often carries a lot of emotions, it reminds us of things we went through in earlier years. It has helped me through sad times, happy times, times when I was lost and times that were very bad.  For me music is a way to escape-I can go anywhere I want to by listening to music. Music takes you to a place within your mind that allows you to sing along regardless if you carry a tune or not, you can dance in the fields however you want and you can cry if that is what you need to do. Music is freedom for your soul.

Often someone who truly loves music will like a very wide range of it, Old Rock N Roll, Psychedelic Rock, Pop Rock, Folk and Blues, Country, Blue Grass and so much more.  Myself, I cannot get enough of that Psychedelic, Pop, Folk Rock music.  Take me back to the sixties and drop me off and I would be one happy trooper. Lock me in time with, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Cream, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Moody Blues, I promise the list is endless, and I would be one happy person.

I wrote a page years ago called 1960's Music  which of course is related to the Woodstock Festival also known as the Summer of Love.  Although I was a young teen at that time, I still heard of it and would have given anything to go to it.

When it comes to having a favorite song I honestly could never just pick one.  But I do a few I can listen to many times and never get tired of them.  Wild Horses is one of them.

The Story in your Eyes

If you are ever down, depressed, sad or want to escape for a while-Turn on your favorite music, sit back, close your eyes and listen to the music, allow it to take you where you need to go.

I see you standing there

Poetry about Trees

I was at the doctors office with my mother and out of nowhere, I had sentences that kept echoing in  my mind.  So I pulled out my writing book and began writing.  For a little while I did not even  notice I was in a waiting room, it was like I had gotten lost in this poem.

If you are a writer, you most likely understand what I mean by I am never without something to write on and pens. There are a few material things I cannot be without in my life: camera, writing tablets, pens, candles and matches.  If I had to say I am addicted or obsessed with something it would be those items. (Oh and Lip Balms!! Yes, a little off topic there, but still the truth).

I took the picture posted above one day a friend and I went to the botanical gardens.  I love to photograph trees and branches especially if they are crooked. I do this because I find them so unique and beautiful.  They have a lot of character and grace.  Of course I have never seen a tree I did not think was beautiful.  Yes, I even love the trees that are coming to the end of their life journey and are just standing there. If you look closely at the bare trees, you will often see hawks sitting in them; which makes the scene even more beautiful!

I see you Standing There
(c) 2012 Eva WhiteOak Thomas

As I see you standing tall,
especially during the Fall,
I see you with such beauty and grace,
which confirms I am in the right place.

Visions of your wisdom flows,
throughout your colored leaves as they glow,
they show signs of their journey,
throughout their life, which seems like eternity.

Your leaves, your branches and your bark,
places images upon my heart,
I am truly blessed each day,
to be able to watch you sway.

As you move to natures song,
slow soft movements, yet so strong.
I admire the gifts you freely give,
and how easily you can forgive.

If only people could truly hear,
the words you speak beyond our ears.
It is sad the messages you send our way,
are often missed every day.

I see you standing there tall and proud,
as if you are reaching for the clouds.
I honor you standing there and everything you do,
I know there would be no life without you.

The next time you pass by a tree, stop and feel,
how the energy flows because it is so real.
They never ask for anything in return,
Just for us to listen, so we can all learn.

If you ever need a friend,
all you have to do is find a tree to befriend,
it will shower you with unconditional love,
and teach you so much from above.

Poetry from the Heart-Part 5

Poetry from the heart

I cannot speak for all women, only for myself.  I have noticed in my own life as I transcended to a different section of the trinity, I began to see life differently.  The changes I seen were not a couple of things here and there, but for me it was a full transition.  Often the changes happened so fast that it felt like a whirlwind running at high speed.  We learn a whole new way-and our path becomes a different trail.  But the more you can just flow with these experiences, the more you will come to realize, that is all part of our spiritual growth.  The good, the bad, the ugly, all of it is part of learning new ways.

Sweet Scents
(c) 1996 Eva WhiteOak Thomas

Spiral Dancers, dancing on a golden thread,
Visions and thoughts are filling my head.
Sweet Scents of what was once secure,
leaves my emotions very unsure.

Spiral Dancers, from here and there,
have set me free, floating on air.
Sweet Scents of what was once pure,
leaves me empty and very bored.

Spiral Dancers, of my most inner fear,
have began to bring out yesterdays tears.
Sweet Scents of something once filled with power,
leaves me feeling like a broken flower.

Spiral Dancers, that once danced in faith,
Now runs away to totally escape.
Sweet Scents of what was once soft,
leaves my spirit cold and aloof.

Spiral Dancers, when did I lose sight,
within the darkness of my own fright.
Sweet Scents of yet to come,
leave me feeling very numb.

Spiral Dancers, I no longer feel your dance,
And the song that brought light into my broken trance.
Sweet Scents of a strength, I once held
leaves my ears ringing with echo's of bells.

Spiral Dancers, will this pain ease,
From whispers of a silent pleads?
Sweet Scents of my weakness that's no longer strong,
leaves me with questions like where do I belong.

From a Mist
(c) 1998 Eva WhiteOak Thomas

It appears you have stepped out from a mist,
Your darkness wrapped around you in a tight fit.
The paleness of your skin reflects in the moon,
Yet your shadow self continues to bloom.
You shield many thing but your true essence cannot hide.
I sense you, feel you and can hear your cries.
I understand unspoken words that cannot escape your lips,
And the darkness that comforts you as you so wish.

It appears you have stepped out from a mist,
Lingering about in a crowded abyss.
Your mysterious aura, your mysterious feel,
Can sensed by those from a familiar wheel.
It can be seen how close you hold the darkness around you,
and the  comfort you feel within the darkness, is this not true?
Many things are hidden with the shadow self, that feels right,
Especially those that linger at night.

It appears you have stepped out from a mist,
Not alone, but yet alone as you so wish.
The darkness of your eyes and the paleness of your skin,
Is a trait that you do have other kin.
The fire that runs through your soul,
Reminds me of tales that I was once told.
The rapture runs deep within your essence,
I know it is you, in its purest quintessence.

Weekend Getaways

What can be more romantic?

Since life is always so busy these days, weekend getaways could almost be considered medicine. Getting away whether on motorcycle ride, a hike through the woods or going out and doing photography are all things to break you away from your busy life.  One thing I have had lately is HUGE wake up call reminding me life is really short. And although we are always rushing around trying to work harder, and longer hours to make ends meet, relaxing and enjoying life needs to be put onto your schedule.

Since I live in the South, I mainly write about about beautiful locations that are pretty close around.  But I have lived in many different states that also have beautiful vacation spots.  Take for example Colorado.  Colorado has the most beautiful place to explore and that is the "Garden of the God's".  It is a huge park that has giant rock formations.  One of them is called the "Kissing Camels".  Another spot in the Garden of the Gods is called "Eagle Rock" which use to be my favorite spot to go to and just relax or just listen to nature.

Below you will find some links of different pages I have written.  Please take a look because you just may be interested in visiting one of the places as a surprise for your spouse.  It could be a surprise romantic weekend getaway!  How romantic is that?

Now the drive to Brasstown Bald is as beautiful as actually getting to this park. One the way there are many places to stop and do some photography.  If you love the Appalachian Trail you will be able to stop at the point that leads you the full 2,178 mile trip to Maine.  Click on the link and read more about Brasstown Bald located in the North Georgia Mountains.

If you love historical things, you should do a research for Covered Bridges that is in your area.  My husband and I love to photograph covered bridges, so we did a search of the them in our area and this link shows the bridges and gives a little history behind them.  I love the feel and the history of Covered Bridges, do you?

This is really a funny how I wrote this article.  It was Easter Morning and my husband and I decided to head up to Black Mountain and try to do some photography right as the sun was breaking through the top of the mountain. After freezing our backsides off waiting for the sun to come up, we were not able to get the right angle shot of the sun AND we were actually pushed out of our space where we were standing.  So driving home, we seen a sign that lead to the Gorge at Tallulah Falls.  We have been through Tallulah Falls many times but never noticed the sign for the Gorge.  So we decided we would check it because we really wanted to shoot some landscape photos.  This article shares everything we found.  I promise if you make this one of your weekend getaways, YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!

I do not even know where to start on this weekend getaway! This is a photo that I took from the top of Grandfather Mountain.  You HAVE too put this trip on your list.  Although it makes a great weekend get away, you  may want to go and check it out and than plan on going back to spend a few more days.  Grandfather Mountain is among one of the most beautiful places I have seen.  By the end of the day, all you will want to do is stop by and grab some dinner to go, get to your hotel, eat and crash! There is so much to do there, you will literally have to make yourself leave!

If you really enjoy waterfalls, this would be a great weekend getaway trip.  There are several falls, Anna Ruby Waterfall, Toccoa Waterfall, Tallulah Falls Gorge State Park and many more.  There is nothing better than hearing the sound of a creek beside you as you walk to the falls.  During each season the view will be different.
