Several of us are doing a RedGage 365 Day Challenge and I must admit, it is very exciting!  We are posting a photo a day at a site called RedGage that actually pays you for your links when others clicks on them. Happiness comes from Nature

Happiness

 

Often when I see certain flowers or certain things in Nature, they symbolize a word to me.  I have been taking these photos and turning them into beautiful messages and posting them at in WhiteOak's Photography at Zazzle.   The reason this photo represents "Happiness" is because of the way it made my mother smile.  Often flowers can make a person just feel good.  This inspired me to write this:

Often we are asked-Are you happy? Can you explain what happiness is?

I honestly believe happiness is different for everyone.

I believe happiness is watching a hummingbird and happiness is the fluttering feeling you get in your stomach when you are close to your loved one.

Happiness is watching how your animal reacts when you get home and happiness is seeing your vegetables grow and your flowers bloom.

Happiness is being content in this moment, in this time and happiness is seeing unspoken words in your loved ones eyes.

Happiness is being able to make someone smile and expect nothing in return and happiness cannot be purchased nor can it be borrowed.

I believe happiness lies in the core of your heart in the same place you hold love.  So you see-happiness is different for everyone.  What is happiness to you?

Let's Talk about a 365 Day Challenge

When you hear about challenges, what is the first thing you think of? Commitment is one thing.  To complete a challenge you must make a commit to the cause.  Well, as must of you know at the beginning of this year I have set a pretty high goal for myself with my photography.  So I have been putting all of my energy into my photography work, promoting it, going on photo shoots, writing and so much more.  The other day I had this idea how to combine several actions into one accomplishment and came up with this challenge.

RedGage is a fantastic place to post your links to gain more exposure.  Better yet, RedGage pays you for the views your links gets.  So why in the world would you not want to post your links at a place where you can earn extra income to have more exposure to your work?  Don't get me wrong, it is only manners to visit someone else's page if they take the time to visit your's, besides that is what makes a communty.  

Besides posting your links at RedGage to earn extra income, you can also:  earn points for a raffle they have daily by: adding a link to a place where you placed a Mention about RedGage, invite other people to join and if they join you earn points and also just become an active member in the community. 

Here is a little breakdown of what I am doing:  I set a challenge posting a flower photo everyday for 365 days (that is one year).  In the process, Evelyn set up a FaceBook Fan Page called RedGage Challenge. I am posting my photo on that page and another group called RedGage Members and Links.  I am promoting my WhiteOak's Photography Zazzle Gallery, earning points at RedGage, and updating a few of my Squidoo Pages all at the same time because I am posting my RedGage link on my Squidoo pages as updates.  Along the way I am getting to know some great people, earning extra income and promoting my work.

If we are self-employed, trying to make a living and earning money a little challenge and keeping the commitment to do it, can accomplish many things at once.

A Little bit of Funny is a VERY GOOD thing!

As I adding some photos to Zazzle today to make some new products, I kept having these odd sayings come to me.  Okay, laughter is fantastic medicine so I wanted to add a little funny to my mixture.  These are photos that I took of some antiques and I added the sepia and vignette effects to them to give them a little "Aged" look.

All of the items in these photos are real antiques.  They were used in every day life.  I can share tales about me and the was board and the tub (laughs) but I won't.

Within the World of a Hibiscus

Last night and early this morning we had a lot of rain in Georgia. One of my favorite things in the world is smelling the air after a rain and also taking photos.  This morning by accident, I stumbled outside to take my yorkie out to do his business and I glanced over at my flowers and ran in the house to get my camera.  

In the process of taking these photos, I noticed I was going for somekind of theme not really planning to do so.  Have you ever really looked into a flower?  Anyway, there were many different angle shots I took so I did a google search to see if any of the parts had names, and guess they do!

The Stigma is considered the female part of the flower that receives the pollen.  Inside the long tubular organ of the flower that the stigma sits on is called the pistil and that is where the other female parts are like the ovaries.  Now whereas other flowers will have several ovaries, the hibiscus only has one.  

[[posterous-content:pid___3]][[posterous-content:pid___4]]The Anthers and Filaments are considered the Male part of the hibiscus and are resonsible for producing pollen and is called the stamens.  The hibiscus flowers have hundreds.  The long thin tubes are called filaments and the two tube shaped objects are called anthers. The Anthers sit ontop of the filament and they are what releases the pollen.  

**Please Note**  I took the above pictures this morning and it is now noon here in Georgia and the little brown anthers are now just yellow bits of pollen!!

Page of Art

Over the weekend I was doing some clean up at Squidoo.  When you have over 200 pages that you need to keep up with and refresh and so on, it becomes a task.  But while I was doing this it dawned on me that I had written over 20 pages of art related pages so I decided to combine them all into one page.    

Page of Art is considered a Lensography at Squidoo.  They are one of my favorite kinds of pages to create because I like the organization of them.  I always leave my guestbooks open so all of my visitors can leave a comment if they want too.  If you get a chance stop by and take a look.

I have 100% fell in love with doing Black and White Photography. There is something about the uniqueness it adds to the photo, but its something more that I cannot really explain.  There are a few of my personal favorites, I hope you like them.  If you would like, comments are welcomed and appreciated.  

Dogwood Blossom by Eva Thomas

Dogwood Blossoms are among my favorite flower to photo.  I love the richness of the blossoms and especially in a Black and White photo.

Covered Bridges fascinate me.  This bridge is located in Watkinsville, Georgia and is one of four that I have photographed so far.  I have set a goal to take as many photos as possible of different covered bridges in different locations.

Black and White Dandelion Puff

Often when I am out shooting photos, I see small things that captures my attention.  This happens to be the result of that.  These little dandelion puff balls are a childhood favorite.  Remember:  All you have to do is make a wish!!

Old Studebaker Truck

WHO does not love old classic automobiles?  This truck would be a dream come true for my husband and I.  I can see us driving it!!

What else can you say about a rose?  They are not my favorite flower, but they are becoming one I love photograph!
